Learn to Rest and Reconnect through Mindfulness Practice

Together we will learn and practice ways to relieve anxiety, stress, and pain through awareness and relaxation. Instruction by Mary French RN, MSW, LCSW-C, a Graduate of Internship program Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts under direction of Jon Kabat Zinn in 1994. Mary has 16 years of practice incorporating mindfulness based practices as a clinical social worker and nurse.

Mindfulness is based on ancient Buddhist practices of Vipassana (“Insight”) Meditation and was first introduced into mainstream hospital based programs back in the late 1970’ s by Jon Kabat Zinn author of “Full Catastrophe Living; Using the Wisdom of your Body and Mind to Face Stress, Pain and illness.”

Please bring: Yoga mat, bag lunch, zafu cushion if you desire- chairs will be available

Some insurance companies do reimburse for this group. Pain Connection does not take insurance but will provide you with a receipt to give to your insurance company.

Program Cost:
$325 includes 7 sessions, meditation CDs, and curriculum materials
Pain Connection Members, students and those registering for 3 or more participants receive a discounted cost of $295 per participant.

Teacher's Bio:
Mary French RN, MSW, LCSW-C, Psychotherapist, is a graduate of the Internship Program at the Center for Mindfulness, University of Massachusetts under direction of Jon Kabat Zinn in 1994. Mary has 18 years of practice incorporating mindfulness based practices as a clinical social worker and nurse.

Mary is an Honorary Board Member and past president of Pain Connection, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping those with chronic pain and their families.

As a health professional with more than 25 years experience, Mary French also operates a private psychotherapy practice in Baltimore and Howard County specializing in trauma and chronic pain.

She is a member of the American Nurses Association, the American Society of Clinical Hypnosis and the National Association of Social Workers, Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Teacher and a Certified EMDR Instructor. She is a frequent speaker and is the Coauthor of Making the Invisible Visible; Chronic Pain Manual for Health Care Providers.
